After providing an underrated rhythm section for a number of acts, Hans and Murray formed slung in 2001. slung marries tousle-headed, hillbilly pie, wrist-slashing country and western with swampland rock. The boys were finally able to create the sound they always contemplated in their minds when they recruited Brad Trivers, Ted Simmons and Jason "Gus" MacKinnon. Often referred to as "Canada's everyman", Brad makes you feel better about yourself just by listening to him - curious, given his mournful mandolin work. Ted was born after midnight with a tear stained eye - plus he can play the banjo, which sounds really great when laid on top of Murray's dirty guitar work. Gus pretends he's a poser, but we've yet to find anybody whose rhythm is more solid. Superfecta, slung's first album, will be released in 2009. Recorded and engineered by award winning producer Jon Matthews, Superfecta weaves a bitter story of lost loves, broken hearts, indulgence, indignance and hangovers.
